The Oxford Institute of Population Ageing holds Seminars every Thursday throughout Term, from 12:30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m at the Oxford Martin School 34 Broad St, Oxford OX1 3BD (with the exception of Thursday 17th October which is being held in the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing, 66 Banbury Road, OX2 6PR).
Everyone is welcome to attend.

Think Lab Oxford | 29 September -1 October, Yarnton Manor


The JDC International Centre for Community Development (JDC-ICCD) brought together a select and multidisciplinary group of Jewish European intellectuals, community leaders, social scientists, businessmen and entrepreneurs to discuss the future of Jews and Jewish life in Europe.

ThinkLab took place in Oxford, UK from Sunday September 29 to Tuesday October 1 at Yarnton manor, the seat of the JDC-ICCD at the University of Oxford.

British Society of Gerontology Annual Conference 2013


The Annual Conference of the British Society of Gerontology was held this year September 11th-13th at Oxford, hosted by the University’s Institute of Population Ageing at Keble and Kellogg Colleges.

Who wants to live forever | Sarah Harper's talk at GRID Stockholm 2013


The first person to live to be 200 years old may already have been born.

Professor Sarah Harper GRID Talk tackled the growth in extreme longevity and fall in fertility and its potential impact on our lives and societies. GRID is a yearly two-day summit in Stockholm, organized by Bonnier AB, and hosting 15 international speakers and over 250 people from Bonnier companies around the globe.

20th International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics Conference | Seoul (23 – 27 June 2013)


Several current members as well as alumni of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing (OIPA), University of Oxford, participated in the very successful 20th International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) Conference in Seoul, South Korea .

Dr James Martin - 1933 to 2013


We pay tribute to a great visionary, leader and generous supporter of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing - Dr James Martin.  Dr Martin applied his success to making a true difference.  We are grateful for his financial, personal and academic support.  He will be sorely missed.

European Commission expert group meeting on food safety and nutrition


European Commission, Health and Consumers Directorate-General, DG-SANCO, Directorate E -Safety of the Food Chain

On May 31st, Dr George Leeson, Co-Director of the Institute, attended an expert working group meeting in Brussel. The meeting was one in a series of expert group meetings to help develop a strategy for DG SANCO's policy and legislative framework to deliver on EU food safety and nutrition to 2050. Dr Leeson was invited as the demographic expert to address the impact of demographic developments on issues relating to food safety and nutrition.
